Zed WheelWorks
I offer made-to-order wheels using affordable high quality components. Creating well-built wheels is a labour of love. Zed WheelWorks was born out of a passion for cycling and a desire to offer light, affordable semi-custom wheels. I offer four semi-custom models, but I am happy to provide you with a fully customized hand-built wheelset upon request. I build wheels one at a time, the only right way, by hand.
Because these are made to order, you can customize your wheelset with a choice of rim, hub, nipple and spoke colours. In addition, I can tailor the wheelset to suit your riding needs - altering spoke choice, lacing pattern and spoke count. These wheelset selections represent a good choice for most riders.
Named for the infamous nearby ascent called Hurricane Ridge, a mountain in nearby Washington State, this clincher wheelset is a great choice for day-in-day-out racing and training. Features a semi-aero 30mm niobium rim and a lightweight 24h/28h hub set (1500g).
A lighter version of the Hurricane with 30mm niobium rim with less spokes: 20h front, 24h rear (1470g).
Named after my favourite climb - Mt. Diablo in northern California. This clincher wheelset features a 27mm niobium rim, 24h front, 28h rear sub-300g hub set (1460g).
The super light version of the Diablo, and the lightest semi-custom clincher I offer. The weight comes down using a slightly lighter front hub and less spokes than the Diablo. Features 27mm niobium rim, 20 spokes front, 24 rear (1400g).
Named after Vancouver Island’s Cross on the Rock cyclocross race series, the CrossRock AX features a 25mm KinLin niobium alloy tubular rim, 24h front / 28h rear (1425g) Wheelset priced at $499.
The CrossRock CX features a 50mm 3K weave carbon tubular rim, 24h front / 28h rear (1390g). Wheelset priced at $799.
